  • ATU 752 helps "stuff the bus"
    Posted On: Dec 05, 2014

The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 752 members are the maintenance, operators, mechanics, dispatchers and clerical employees of Connect Transit that make sure our community members get where they need to go through blazing heat, freezing cold, rain, and snow.  They are the driving force of the transit.

Our ATU members are proud to have partnered with Connect Transit and the Children’s Home + Aid over the past decade to make Stuff-the-Bus successful in supplying the Crisis Nursery with enough supplies to last throughout an entire year.

The union members recognize what a lifeline the Crisis Nursery is for many Bloomington –Normal families experiencing emergencies, crisis, or stressful times.  This holiday season of giving is a perfect time for our members to step forward and work together to better our community by helping innocent children in their times of need.  All the items donated to Stuff-the-Bus stay right here in our community and are used by the Crisis Nursery.

This year the ATU Local 752 is donating 38 new blue aprons to the Children’s Home + Aid.  The aprons will be used throughout the year for various events such as the Taking Steps to End Child Abuse 5K Run and Scarecrow Showdown and of course Stuff the Bus.  The Union also “kicked off” this year’s event by making the first donation of $250.00.

Stuff the Bus will run Monday, December 1st through Saturday, December 6th.  The hours are 10:00 am till 8:00 pm each day.  The locations are:

    Monday, December 1st                   Normal Wal-Mart

    Tuesday, December 2nd                  Cub Foods

Wednesday, December 3rd             Jewel on Oakland Avenue

Thursday, December 4th                 Jewel on Veterans Parkway

    Friday, December 5th                      K-Mart

    Saturday, December 6th                 Bloomington Wal-Mart

In addition, donations will be accepted at Connect Transit, 351 Wylie Drive, Normal and Children’s Home + Aid, 403 S. State Street, Bloomington.

All the donated items will be delivered to the Children’s Home + Aid Crisis Nursery, 403 S. State Street, Bloomington, on Monday, December 8th at 10:00 am.
