In an age of underemployment and ever-increasing wage disparity, who has the power to choose their work? A community conversation is scheduled for January 28, 6:45 p.m., at the McLean County Museum of History, 200 N. Main Street, downtown Bloomington - Free.
Nathan “Chiko” Russo, a life-time west-side Bloomington resident and a Laborers Local 362 member, is running to represent McLean County District 8.
“I’m a life-time resident on the west-side,” Russo said. “I worship at the same church as generations of my family before me have and I attended local public schools.
Local unions are returning to a tradition of a January Union blood drive, working with Central Illinois Blood Services, the non-profit agency that provides blood to the OSF Hospital system.
The drive is Saturday, January 18, 7—11:30 a.m., at Laborers Local 362 Hall, 2012 Fox Creek Road, Bloomington.
The 37th annual Christmas for Kids Party, for low-income families, was Saturday, December 14, 10 at Bloomington High School Cafeteria, with almost 300 children served. The Party featured carnival games, arts and crafts, plus numerous other activities, completed with a sing-along. Each child left with a grab-bag and a gift. The Party is co-sponsored by the McLean County Chamber of Commerce and the Bloomington & Normal Trades & Labor Assembly.
